Product Analyst assists the Product Owner in defining work items for the development execution team. Their primary work assignment is to understand, refine and communicate the product feature requirements in a manner that can be executed on and validated. They serve as an additional subject matter for a given product domain. Tyler Technologies Public Safety encompasses our police and fire computer-aided dispatch (CAD), mobile units, inspections, and field reporting as well as the supporting back office police, fire, and corrections records. This essential product line for police and fire departments across the United States is used to effectively dispatch units and make them more efficient in their daily job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Support Product Owner in solution design activities
  • Create detailed functionality breakdowns
  • Write tactical user stories and feature specifications for Developers to code
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate that delivered code meets specifications
  • Work with Customers to refine solution specification
  • Day-to-day collaboration with Developers and QA Testers to clarify functional specifications for approved features
  • Assist in Requirement Documentation creation
  • Assist with backlog grooming activities
  • Coordinate with user groups, advisory boards, and Sales organization on product suggestions
  • Become immersed into the end-user experience via customer facing activities, such as police/fire unit ride-along opportunities and call dispatch center site visits.
  • Conduct show-and-tells with customers to gain early market feedback
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure cross-cutting requirements are understood
  • Support the Product Owner by discussing business and technical impacts of, and dependencies related to, priority decisions
  • Use Case Development
  • Research customer processes, needs and perceptions

Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years of experience in a requirements gathering and business analysis role for software
  • Experience in Fire/EMS domain is preferred
  • Prior experience in a customer facing role
  • Strong in User Story definition and acceptance criteria creation
  • Knowledgeable on various technology platforms with respect to workflow and usage models (desktop clients, web, tablet, smartphone)
  • Understanding of Agile software development concepts
  • Experience developing or supporting complex software deployed to an enterprise
  • Experience in public safety or government space
  • Experience in Persona creation
  • Knowledgeable with SQL Server administration
  • Knowledgeable with prototyping software, such as MS Expression and Balsamic
  • Bachelor’s Degree in CIS, MIS or a related Technical field is preferred
